God's Blessings Plan is a nonprofit organization that focuses on Community Development and encouragement through economic empowerment and distributions of core necessities to those most vulnerable in the community.
Above all else, we are an organization that shows the love of Christ to all those we meet, and provide a judgement free zone to demonstrate just how much the people we serve are loved and valued by God and others. We strive to embody the two Great Commandments "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" Matthew 22:37 and "Love your neighbor as yourself" Matthew 22:39
Our services are open to all people, no matter their religious background, and we do not push any religious point of view on anyone. The way we interact with those around us speak louder than words ever could.
Simply put, the love of God was the catalyst in starting God's Blessings Plan. Our founder would walk by various people in need of her help each day as she rushed back and forth to work. Riding the train wrapped up in her own world, rushing to pick up her child from daycare, she became generally hardened to what has become a "normal" part of living in a metropolitan area.
Over the course of many weeks, during her normal rushed commute, she prayed to God to show her how He wanted her to help. She didn't want to give money to possibly give aid in destructive coping mechanisms, but she couldn't bear to keep walking past all of God's children that He loves so dearly, as though they didn't even exist. She looked up one day during her walk to work and finally her eyes were opened. She saw a homeless man lying on the sidewalk, feeding the pigeons out of the little bit of bread he had. It was a moment that stopped her in her tracks. How can this man, who has so little, be so willing to share his food in such an unselfish way while she was too scared to even look him in the eye? God showed her in that moment anyone can help those around them if their heart is open and willing to love, the action will follow if we just trust Him.
"If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion - how can God's love be in that person? Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." 1 John 3:17-18
